Cheshunt 3rd XV 62 – 0 Hatfield 2nd XV – 25th September, 2010

First off can I thank all the players that turned out for Cheshunt 3s against Hatfield.

We had our first league win of the season with a convincing 62 -0.

The team;

Adam Spycal (A), Sean Callaghan, Tony Owen (A), Paul Duigall (A), Spencer Linsell, Connor Pearce(A), Ayden Duilgall (A), Sam Howard, Simon Embleton, Chubbs (A), Ginger (AA), Kevin Bundock (A), Dean, Sunny, Mark Lennon (A) Subs; Daren Masters (scrum half), Muzzy (Prop), Bruce (wing)

We dominated the game from the first whistle; with in 3min we scored our first try. Ayden powered his way through the heart of the Hatfield defence beating several players to score under the posts.

Soon after the pack secured another clean ball and let the backs have a run (very rear) Chubs with a pin point pass found Kevin, and with his quick hands released Ginger, even with a 2 man overlap and his skipper screaming for the ball he kicked the ball down the centre of the park hunted the ball down like a gazelle, 2 yards from the line and another kick he pounced on the ball for try no2.

With Cheshunt’s confidence flying high I called Ayden over and instructed him to try a solo run at a pre planned angle my plan was executed with pint point accuracy, with a few hand offs several side steps Ayden scored his second try of the game. (I love it when a plan comes together)

The half time whistle came with Cheshunt leading 21-0

The second half started much like the first, Simon had a solid first half was replaced by Darren Masters and Bruce came on for Dean on the wing.

A second try from ginner who again used the wind and with another chip and chase scored in the corner.  With a commanding lead the backs strung together several passes to set up Sunny Wayde to score his second try of the season.

Connor Pearce with some clever thinking took a quick penalty and run straight through the opposition to score under the post, then the pack with some strong running from Paul and Tony Owen help set up Sean Callaghan to score his first of the season.

Connor’s running was again to powerful and he went over to score what would have been his second but the ref did not see the ball grounded and Adam Spycal was first to react, and touched it down. (sorry Connor!!).  It was good to see Spencer again and hopefully it will become a regular addition to the squad.  Sam Howard had a good game and made way for Muzzy to see out the last 20 min.

The 9th try was another team try started with the forwards and finished by Mark Lennon under the post after side stepping several of the Hatfield backs handing off the entire pack. (The conversion was missed due to me trying the miss the pigeon that landed on the cross bar just before the ball was struck).

Ayden still on for the hat-trick finished of the game in style with yet another powerful run to score under the posts capping off a man of the match performance.

Tries; Ayden  3, Ginger  2, Connor 1, Sunny 1, Sean  1, Mark  1, Adam  1 Total:10 – 55 points

Conversations: 6 -  12 points (Mark L)

Man of the match;  Ayden Duligall & Connor Pearce

DOTD   Mark Lennon for missing his own conversation from under the post

Assist of the match goes to the Hatfield physiotherapist.

After a flat out run from Paul he reached an estimated speed of3mph, he took several players out before crashing to the ground, She (the physio) had to remind Paul where his crown jewels were kept and after rubbing his shoulder for a bit we helped him to his feet and he managed to play out the remaining 20 or without further complaint.

See you all next week …………..

By Mark Lennon (Anyone notice that Tries + Conversions doesn’t equal total points?)
