CHESHUNT RUGBY CLUB

Cheshunt Crowned County Champions

The current Cheshunt U10s were crowned champions of Hertfordshire at Bishops Stortford in May 2007. After having won their pool games by beating Letchworth 30 - 0, Royston 25 - 0 and Tring 15 - 0. they went on to beat Harpenden 5-0 in the semi final.

In the final they met Hertford and after a tough, hard tackling contest, Cheshunt proved to be too strong and won 5-0 after scoring a great team try which was eventually touched down by William Winslow, who had also scored the winning try in the semis. Remarkably, no tries were scored against Cheshunt throughout the whole tournament.

Mark Lennon - under 10's coach was full of praise ''Their tackling and defensive positioning proved to be the key to their success along with some stunning passing and running. Having already won the Harlow and the Tring tournaments earlier in the year, winning the Hertfordshire Festival is a fitting end to what has been an outstanding season for us, every player should be immensely proud of themselves, both as individuals and as a squad''.
