An under strength Cheshunt Under 8's lost out 10-5 in the Kingswood Festival Cup Final against Northampton Scouts Reds.
Cheshunt and Northampton were the only two teams with a 100% record in the group stages, overcoming some very difficult opposition on their way to the final.
Cheshunt had to overcome a 1-4 halftime deficit against Old Reigatians, eventually running out 8-7 winners.
The next two games saw Cheshunt beat Chelmsford 13-10 and Bedford Tigers 11-5.
In the final Cheshunt ran out of steam, and the efforts of the group games started to catch up with them. Losing 4-1 at halftime, Cheshunt briefly rallied, pulling the score back to 4-3.
However, a solid Northampton defence prevented a Cheshunt comeback, and at the final whistle a 10-5 scoreline was a fair relection of the game..
Despite the loss, the club should feel proud of the team, as the Holt organisers commented on smart appearance & their style of running, attacking rugby.
