The weather was kind to us and the rain held off.

Off the back of our perfect start to the season, the boys travelled to Letchworth on Sunday to try and maintain their record. The weather was kind to us and the rain held off, despite a bit of pre match precipitation. Although, looking at the boys kits at the end of the game the muddy season is starting to come!!!

With 16 players available for selection the boys were split into 2 teams, the Cheshunt Sharks and the Cheshunt Lions. The day started well with big with big wins for both team, the Sharks winning 7-3 and the Lions winning 9-3. We did look a little rusty because of the early start, but there was some great play and good tackling from Callum, Konrad and Bobby. Tries were scored by Tevin, Woody, Morgan, Jake D, Tommy, Jack B and Finley. Chris also returned to his scoring ways, getting his first two tries of the season and Will B superbly scoring his first ever try for Cheshunt.

In the second round of games, the team swapped opponents. The Lions fought really hard, but went down 2-1, although the Sharks determination held firm to win 11-2. The additional try scorers in these games were Josh, Jack G and also a great first try of the season for Jake M.

In the final round of games, we picked a team to play Letchworth’s A team (who had been training away from the matches in readiness for this game) and another team to play their B team. The boys fought hard in each game, but a combination of tiredness and silly mistakes handed the A game to Letchworth with Cheshunt going down 6-0. The B team game was much closer with the scores ending even at 2-2.
The first man of the match trophy was awarded to Jack B for scoring two tries, his general play and great attitude in each game. The second man of the match trophy was awarded to Freddie for some fantastical tackles and the terrific all round improvement in his game.
So three wins, two defeats and a draw, a solid performance. We all know what we need to work on and will be working hard in training on Wednesday to be ready for when we play Chingford at home on Sunday. Come on Cheshunt!!!
