It seems that no amount of rain will dampen the spirits, and once again Cheshunt U11s have come away from a morning of Rugby without conceding a point!

Despite the extremely wet conditions Cheshunt U11s run out for their first match after taking the Barnet Festival trophy last week. The temperature and weather conditions could not have been more different to last Sunday and parents and supporters alike were passing comment on the luck of last week.
Stevenage were suffering the curse of football and had lost their forwards to a round ball county game. All credit and respect should go to the forwards of Cheshunt U11s as they sportingly played for the opposition.
Needless to say the Cheshunt packs gave it their all, and it seemed a fairly evenly matched contest. However the storming combination that is James Anderson, Matt Lawton and James Smith (1) was on true form with some great passing - in very slippery conditions, some spectacular tackling and a few awesome tries. The team were by no means fault free, some fumbled passes, knock ons from the kick off, and a couple of questionable entries through the side means that there is still a considerable amount of training which needs to take place!!
Game one saw Cameron Manning, Joe Crump and Scott Sciara playing from row for Stevenage with Thomas Street and Eoin Edwards in second row. - Well done lads great sportsmanship.
Stevenage took a little while to realise that Cheshunt were fired up and that the rain was not affecting them at all. James Smith ran in a couple of tries in the first half which were comfortably converted by James Anderson.
Matt Lawton, not to be left out of the limelight ran in a really nifty try giving Cheshunt a really comfortable lead. The final try of the game by James Anderson was a reward for his diligent tackling, excellent defence and superb attack, converting your own try has to feel more special than any other conversion?? Both teams lost a player following a collision - Kamikaze Scott Sciara - despite having an egg shaped lump on his head wanted to continue - but thankfully took advice from coaches and sat out the rest of the matches with an ice pack to soothe the swelling.
Game 2 saw Malachie and Mackenzie Obe, Nicholas Dean, Thomas Diston and Aston Bush playing for the opposition - once again credit to you lads - well done. By now all players and spectators were suitably soaked through and the chills were setting in. However put the players on a pitch and they warm up quickly enough with Cameron Manning running in his first try of the season. - With James Anderson subbed for the first half of the game Liam Donaghy had to step up for the conversion kick, he made a valiant effort - but was not successful - however it should be duly noted that this is his first season and he hasn't had much practice or preparation - so well done for doing your best Liam. Very quickly from the restart Matt got that spark of something special and ran in his second try of the morning. Half time was looming quickly and there were only 10 minutes left for Stevenage to get some points on the board. Unfortunately it wasn't to be and with a try just a few minutes in from James Smith tidily converted by James Anderson - Cheshunt continue their unbeaten record.
Final scores:
Game 1: 26 - 0
James Anderson 1 try & 3 conversions 11 points / James Smith 2 tries 10 points / Matt Lawton 1 try 5 points
Game 2: 17 - 0
Cameron Manning 1 try 5 points / Matt Lawton 1 try5 points / James Smith 1 try 5 points/ James Anderson 1 conversion - 2 points.
