With some tough games for the boys.

So another beautiful Sunday morning and another game for the U11s. This week Tabard were the visitors.

Cheshunt again had a new starter playing his first game for the team. A big welcome goes to Alfie and his family from the U11s team and Cheshunt Rugby Club.

Cheshunt had enough players for two mixed teams, whereas Tabard only brought along players from their first team. Some tough games for the boys, as we had split the boys evenly into mixed teams for each game, so that they would get the chance to play loads of rugby with different players in each game.

In the first game Cheshunt took the game to Tabard and were soon 1-0 up thanks to some great movement and passing, ending with Finley setting up Jake M for a try. Cheshunt were soon 2-0 up with a try from Tevin, before Tabard pulled on back to make it 2-1. Final score of game one 2-1 to Cheshunt.

In the second and third games, Tabard played some good rugby and due to some missed tackles and a bit too much bunching by Cheshunt, they were able to score some early tries. Cheshunt did score a lone try from Jake D, but we could not pull the deficit back. Final score of games were 3-0 and 2-1 to Tabard. In final games, Cheshunt were again in control from the start with a try from Jake D and two more for Tevin, but in the last game Tabard again sneaked back in front to claim a victory. Final score of games 4 and 5 were 3-1 to Cheshunt and 4-0 to Tabard.

So two wins and three defeats against a strong Tabard first team. Great experience for the Cheshunt players, particularly those having just joined the team. It was great to see how the boys stood up to everything that Tabard could throw at them, put in some big tackles, got the ball moving at times and sneaked a couple of wins. Most important of all, the boys had great fun and enjoyed themselves, which is what we are all about.

Man of the match this week went to Freddy W. Really well played Freddy, you deserved the award this week.

So no matches until the new year now, which we start with an away fixture over at Eaton Manor on Sunday 8th January. Don’t forget that it is the Mini's Christmas party on Sunday 18th December at the rugby club, which is always great fun. Hope to see you there.

Wishing everyone a great Christmas and a very Happy New Year.

Neil
