The sides were fairly evenly-matched for most of the game providing great entertainment for the large Rosedale crowd to enjoy. Cheshunt were caught ‘still in-bed’ early on, allowing Biggleswade a relatively easy score with a well worked move through the centres creating a good field position from which the forwards were able get over from close range.
A straight-forward conversion in front of the posts gave Biggleswade a seven point lead which they held for the majority of the game. Cheshunt struggled for much of the game against the dominant Biggleswade scrum and this became a key area from which Biggleswade were able to over-turn good field position time and again.
Despite this, the home side really should have put away a couple of tries at least. Things became scrappy in the last quarter for Cheshunt as substitutes were brought on and the game plan abandoned on the field. Biggleswade were able to find space out-wide and scored two late tries from range leaving the winger and the rest of the team frustrated knowing it should have been a much closer game.
Notably there were strong performances from Alex (Little Toe) Wistow (centre), Jack (Chuck) Berry (hooker) and Will (Nightmare) Payne (back-row).
